“Weekly reflections and guidance to support and restore.”
Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Two Eighteen Weekly! Each week, I’ll share thoughts from the week, mental health tips, scripture reflection, upcoming events, and resources to explore. If anything here resonates with you, one of the best ways to show support is to share it with someone else and encourage them to subscribe to He is for Me.
Let's get started!
💭 Thoughts from This Week
I've worked with a lot of clients who have had big life adjustments. One of the ones I have come to notice is those clients who finish school and enter the workspace or life after school. Having the conversation that they can have vacations whenever they want, they can schedule their time to start or end when they think is best for their schedule. It is often the hardest conversation to have because most everyone has been attending school since they were five. With built in vacations, starting time and ending time, and routines that set a rhythm. The ceilings that I have shattered with the realization that they can do with their time what they want and it is not bound by a school calendar anymore. I think many of us could stand to remember this in our own life. When rhythms change it is not the end, just the beginning of something new. You do not have to wait for a specific time to start fresh. This thought leads to another one worth sharing as we come to the holiday season and new year. You can start today making a change and doing something different. You do not have to wait for Thanksgiving to find gratitude, you do not have to wait for Christmas to find magic and joy, and you do not have to wait for the New Year to lean into something new. You can start today. And if you fail. You can start again.
🧠 Mental Health Tip
Gratitude is something that even when faced with trials can make a world of difference on your mental health. Finding things to be grateful can shift a focus from down and inward to up and outward.
Every morning when you wake up or every night when you prepare for bed consider identifying 3 things that you are grateful for. Even the smallest item, may make a huge impact. 📖 Scripture to Reflect On
Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.
James 1:2-4
James the brother of Jesus is reminding us of what Jesus also said, which is that in this world you will face trials and tribulations, but take heart because Jesus has overcome the world. When have you done something that was difficult, and through the discomfort or maybe the tears, you've found the rock solid foundation of Jesus' promises?
