“Weekly reflections and guidance to support and restore.”
Hi Everyone,
Welcome to Two Eighteen Weekly! Each week, I’ll share thoughts from the week, mental health tips, scripture reflection, upcoming events, and resources to explore. If anything here resonates with you, one of the best ways to show support is to share it with someone else and encourage them to subscribe to He is for Me.
Let's get started!
💭 Thoughts from This Week
Waiting season. This weekend we shifted to standard time, which leaves many people experiencing darkness around 4:50pm. For me though, along with reading through Lamentations recently, and this morning spending time in Psalm 51. I have come to see waiting seasons as something much more impactful. Throughout scripture we are taught that God's character is never changing, He is the same today, yesterday, and forever. In Lamentations I read about a patient God that waited. In Psalms I read again about a God that waits. As the season changes and the shorter days are amongst us, I cannot help but wonder if this can also reflect a season of waiting. Advent is the coming season of waiting for the good gift of Jesus' birth. Thanksgiving often has travel involved, waiting at the airports or for flights. Waiting is all around us, but the thoughts for this week is how can we use this example of God waiting in scripture to also wait in humility for ourselves, our circumstances, and our futures.
🧠 Mental Health Tip
Sunlight! With the shift in daylight this weekend and the days getting a little shorter each day, I want to remind everyone that it is important to get sunlight exposure when possible. Here in middle Tennessee we've had some overcast days and it has been hard to catch those rays of sun, but when the sun peaks through it is vital that we get outside and soak in some sunlight. Even if for just a moment. Your mental health will thank you! 📖 Scripture to Reflect On
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
Psalm 51:1-2
In this scripture the author is asking for God to come and cleanse them and wash away their sins. This passage in the Old Testament, shows the asking, seeking, and knocking that God calls us to do in our requests. But what I picked up on was that God's response, His answer to this call of cleansing would come in the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus would be the ultimate cleansing of our sins, the answer to this prayer in Psalms.
How does this change your understanding of waiting?
